Symptoms of Amnesia
Some of the prominent symptoms of amnesia are as follows:
- Disorientation and confusion
- Difficulty in remembering things
- Problems in understanding and learning new information
- Difficulty in acclimatising to social settings
Several diagnostic forms are included in the regular treatment of amnesia, starting with a physical examination, investigation of past traumas, and checking the general health of the patient. The extent of this illness can be determined by checking the existing extent of amnesia.
Magnetic resonance imaging and brain scans are also conducted to check whether or not the brain is damaged. The treatment differs from individual to individual. Psychotherapy plays a pivotal role in the treatment of amnesia, especially for those who have memory loss due to emotional trauma. Memory impairment can be coped with through cognitive rehabilitation.
